We probably do not think about this often enough, but preserving and protecting tribal languages is an essential part of conserving the cultural heritage and history of a country. The reasons are many, yet languages often fade away into oblivion and are forgotten as generations move forward. Starting with India, this column explores tribal languages in different parts of the world, and how best to preserve them in order to maintain the historic and cultural heritage of a nation.
